Billy the Kid National Scenic Byway
One of the best ways to see many of the area’s best attractions and historical sites is to take a trip down the Billy the Kid National Scenic Byway. The byway passes through picturesque grassy plains of the Hondo Valley and on into the million-acre Lincoln National Forest. Along the journey, stop and visit rural communities like Capitan, Ft Stanton and Lincoln, once home to outlaw Billy the Kid and lawman Pat Garrett. You can also visit unique attractions and historic sites.
Hubbard Museum of the American West

As one of the most respected museums in New Mexico, the Hubbard Museum of the American West, houses an extensive permanent collection of carriages, saddles, wagons, Indian artifacts and fine art as well as a featuring a several show that rotate throughout the year. One of the main focuses of the museum is to showcase the role of the horse in the expansion of the great American West.
Ruidoso Downs Race Track

Ruidoso Downs is home to some of the finest Quarter House racing in the country. The One million dollar All American Futurity held ever Every September is the richest Quarter Horse race in the world and draws visitors from around the world. The racing season kicks of in May and concludes Labor Day weekend. The track is also the home of the Ruidoso Downs Race Horse Hall of Fame honoring the people and horses who had a hand in making the track the world’s most renowned Quarter Horse track.
Ski Apache

Ski Apache is the place to be for skiers who love warm weather power snowboarding and skiing. Averaging over 15 of snowfall a season, Ski Apache offer skier access to New Mexico’s only four-passenger gondola and largest lift capacity. Ski season begins in November and if conditions are right, will run through Easter. Ski Apache offers over 55 runs on over 750 acres and can accommodate Ruidoso-Spencer-Theaterskier of all ski level with trails consisting of 20% beginner, 35% intermediate and 45% advanced. There are seven eating areas including two cafeterias, three snack bars, two burger stands and two beverage bars. Lifts run daily including all holidays from 8:45 AM to 4:00 PM.
Spencer Theater of the Performing Arts

Build in 1997, the theatre was built with the idea of bring world class performances in theater, music and dance to New Mexico. The main hall is equipped with over intimae seating for over 500 as well as providing outstanding acoustics. Open year-round with both a summer and winter season featuring around 30-35 performances each year, the schedule consists of touring shows, concerts, plays, family and children shows as well as dance companies.
