The Angel Fire Resort features exciting skiing just minutes from your doorstep during the winters, as well as other year-round, outdoor family fun. Average snowfall in the area is 201” annually with snow typically on the ground by late October. Take advantage of the other opportunities to enjoy the outdoors during the summer. Hiking, biking, fishing, golf, and tennis exist during the warm summer days.

New Mexico’s largest full-service cross-country ski area offers trails perfect for both classic and freestyle skiing. Located three miles east of Red River on the Carson National Forest, the area boasts of spectacular mountain vistas and meandering trails.
There are many lessons available for skiers of all levels. Beginner, intermediate and advanced lessons, as well as classic and skating techniques can be purchased.

The only alpine skiing/snowboarding area in the Jemez Mountains can be found at the Pajarito Mountain Ski Area. Annual snowfall is 125 inches and offers difficult mogul runs. The ski area is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Red River Ski Area
Combining the charm of the former mining town of Red River and the excitement of alpine skiing and snowboarding, the Red River Ski Area offers a dynamic experience. With an average snowfall of 252 inches, the mountain has a vertical drop of 1,60 feet. Nordic skiing in the nearby Enchanted Forest covers 35 kilometers of groomed trails over 600 forested areas that are regularly patrolled. Warming huts are stocked with snacks and hot drinks.

Close to Albuquerque Sandia Peak Ski Area features 30 trails at their 200-acre ski area. The easiest way to get there is by taking the Sandia Peak Tramway to get to the top straight from town. You can also take a longer drive around the mountains through Cedar Crest. There are lessons and competitions offered, as well as other activities.

This is for the low-key skier! Visitors can enjoy all the fun of a ski vacation without the added hassles of long lines and other distractions. Twenty-two miles south of Taos this resorts gets on average, 130 inches of snow annually. There are 31 runs on 70 acres of 1,055 vertical feet.

An average annual snowfall of 183 inches and 55 groomed trails adorn the 750 acres of Ski Apache. This resort also boasts having the only gondola life in the state. It is also perfect for the bilingual skiers out there as alpine skiing and snowboarding classes are conducted in both Spanish and English.

A short drive from Santa Fe puts you in Ski Santa Fe, which features a more than 12,000-foot peak, and 45 broad intermediate alpine skier/snowboarder runs. There is no ski village located here, but Santa Fe is extremely close.

Taos Ski Valley

A snowboarder and skier’s paradise is located at Taos Ski Valley without the glitz of other resorts. More than 1,290 acres welcome those who have a love of snow sports. The Taos Ski Valley is more than just some place to visit during the winter.
During the summer, the surrounding national forest and rivers offer hiking, horseback riding, and fishing. The summer temperatures average 70 degrees during the day and low 40s at night.
