Silver City, New Mexico
No matter if it is a weekend getaway, a family vacation or your first trip to the Southwest, Silver City can be the perfect destination couples for a family. Located at the base of the Pinos Altos Mountains, Silver City borders the Continental Divide at an elevation of 6,000 feet. The community was recently selected as one of the healthiest places to live and retire, sighting climate, elevations, terrain and lack of Urban Stress. Silver City is nearly surrounded by the 3.3 million-acre Gila National Forest which is home to the Gila Cliff Dwellings, once inhabited by the Mimbres Indians. You can also take advantage of golfing, hiking and our historic downtown full of museums and art galleries. The hillsides are scattered with cabins, bed and breakfast inns, campgrounds and historic hotels.
Climate Silver City is blessed with all four seasons. Year-round, temperatures are generally mild. Summer months reach the high 80s to low 90s while fall temperatures peak in the low to mid 70s. Winter months are crisp with highs in the 50s and low in the teens and 20s. Springtime temperatures hover in the 60s but morning and nighttime temperatures can still be a bit chili until late May so be prepared to layer.
