Located only 45 miles from the border between Texas and New Mexico, Roswell is a community that prides itself on its ranching and military history and traditions. Born from its proximity to water, Roswell’s locations proved to be ideal stop for ranchers moving cattle up the Chisum Trail to the railhead in Las Cruces. Today, Roswell embraces and celebrates all aspects of its history with everything from interesting museums to the world famous UFO Museum and Festival. Roswell is also a great starting point for exploring eastern New Mexico. Attractions like Carlsbad Caverns, Bottomless Lakes State Park and Ski Apache are all within a couple hours drive from Roswell. Roswell is also home to seven museums that highlight the communities colorful past and talented art community.

Climate
Like much of southern and eastern New Mexico, Roswell has around 300 days of sunshine a year. Average summer temperatures peak in the mid to high 90s, while the fall months cools down to the high 70s and low 80s. Winters highs are in the 50s while evening and nighttime temperatures can reach the low 20s, but not for very long. Spring temperatures rebound to the high 60s and 70s.
